Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest national park with 76 species of mammals and over 451bird species. The park is bisected by the Victoria Nile which flows rapidly to through a narrow gap falling off a 45m high cliff producing a thunderous roar with a rainbow signature to form a broad, placid stream that flows quietly towards Lake Albert. Taking a boat trip to the base of the falls provides one of Uganda’s finest wildlife spectacles. Some of the regular visitors to the riverbanks include the elephants, giraffes and buffalos while hippos, Nile crocodiles and aquatic birds are permanent residents.
