Kidepo Valley National Park is referred to as “the true African Wilderness” because of its richness of rare, regional endemic and globally endangered wildlife species. It has a tract of rugged savannah dominated by 2,750m mount Murungole and crossed by rivers Kidepo and Narus that are oases during the dry season. Wildlife gathers around these two rivers giving fabulous game viewing opportunities. The park hosts 77 species of mammals and 475 species of birds including the ostrich, kori bustard, and the Karamoja Apalis. Lions, cheetah, leopard, buffalo, bat-eared fox, hyena, are excellently distributed in this park. Mount Morungole is home to the IK people, Uganda’s smallest yet unique ethnic group which can be visited on a pre-arranged hike to the mountain for a cultural encounter
