Kibale National Park is Africa’s Primates Capital with 60 species of mammals, with the most popular as Chimpanzees and the Red Colobus Monkey, which have been assessed as endangered by the IUCN. Other species that call Kibale forest home include 375 species of birds, 250 butterfly species, elephants, buffalos, warthogs, golden cats, duikers, reptiles and amphibians, bush babies, among others.
Chimpanzee tracking is the most popular activity in the Kanyanchu trail. There are 12 more primate species to search for in this magnificent forest. A nature walk in the forest offers opportunities to encounter red colobus, black-and-white colobus, blue and vervet monkeys among others. Birding, and Nature Walks/Hiking activities are also available in Kibale National Park.
