Akagera National Park is the only savanna park in Rwanda where travellers can see the big five on a game viewing safari. The park is known for its magnificent lake, Ihema which offers tremendous boat trips, a great way to see view wildlife and several bird species. Some of the animals to see here include the hyenas, jackals, antelopes, giraffes, baboons, zebra, buffaloes, lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, among others. The park also hosts about 500 species of birds, including the shoebill stork.
